Below is general information about how our rescue works. Thank you so much for your time in reading the below.
Our website is updated daily.
If you see an animal on our website it is still in our rescue.
New animals coming into our rescue that aren't ready for adoption yet are listed ONLY on our website (as "Available for Sponsorship"). They will not appear on PetFinder, PetHarbor, or any of the other sites where our animals are listed.
Not all of our animals are listed on our website. Those animals that have pending adoptions or those animals that will not be ready for adoption within the next few weeks are often not listed.
We are an all volunteer organization and we do not have a central location or shelter building where you can meet all of the animals in one place. All animals are fostered in private homes in various parts of the United States. Most of our dogs are currently being fostered in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Indiana, Texas, and Virginia. Prospective adopters can have the opportunity to meet a dog once they have completed an application and the reference checks have been completed and passed review if they are willing to travel to the area where the dog is fostered. Please note that a home visit is required prior to adoption and we don't make exceptions for that requirement.
Many of the dogs we currently have available for adoption have been rescued from a puppy mill. The decription of each animal usually states where we rescued it from. Before inquiring about one of our animals that was rescued from a puppy mill or applying to adopt one of our animals rescued from a puppy mill please read about puppy mills and the life many of the dogs in our rescue had to endure before coming into our rescue. This will better prepare you for the issues you may have if you adopt. Extensive rehabilitation work is done while an animal is in foster care, and our rescued animals usually make amazing progress, but each animal is different and will have different needs. Some respond so quickly that they are like a "normal" dog when adopted, others are more scared and slower to learn that they are now safe. If you have questions about a specific animal and what they are like, please email us and we'll gladly tell you more about them once we have your adoption application.
Adopters must be willing to travel to the location of the animal they wish to adopt in most cases to pick up their new animal companion. We do prefer they be adopted within a 300 mile radius of where they are being fostered. If you do not live within a 300 mile radius of where your dog is being fostered, you can request that we arrange transportation to you if you are located on one of the routes our transport service travels. There is an addition fee for the transport service. The cost ranges from $100 - $250 depending on where the dog is located and where you are located. This service is not available for all locations. Please email us to see if our transport service can transport your dog to you.
All of our animals are available for sponsorship. Sponsorship helps pay for vetting and care of the dogs until they go to their forever homes. Our rescue relies totally on donations to pay for the veterinary needs of the animals we rescue. We are a very small rescue and any amount you can donate, even $1 will help. Veterinary costs for each rescued animal are almost always at least $300, and in some cases well over $1,000. We've had a few dogs that had very serious medical issues and those veterinary costs were much higher. We also have a "Wish List" if you would like to donate in that way. Please support our efforts how you are able to so we can rescue more animals in need!
If you would like to sponsor one of our dogs click on the paw below. Please list the name of the dog you are sponsoring on your payment. Any remaining amount from donations for a specified animal are moved into our general fund once the medical needs of the specified animal are completely met, unless otherwise requested by the donor.
