Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge

There's a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of it's many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet passes, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. Old and frail animals are made whole. They play all day with each other. There is only one thing missing. They are not with that special person who loved them so much on earth. But the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together for eternity... -Anonymous

I remember when the dogs all first got here after the auction in June like it was just yesterday. There was one girl that really seemed special to me. She was a little more fearful than the others. She would hide in the farthest position away from us. After a little while she carefully made the briefest eye contact with me, wanting to see what I was about. From that moment on she was ok with me. She would look directly into my eyes and I could tell that she was calm, and an overwhelming feeling of calm would come over me. There was something very special about this precious girl. I've never had a connection with any animal in this way before. Giselle, thank you for all you gave to us. You will never be forgotten, and I will see you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Spirit
Spirit was rescued from a puppymill auction in June 2010. We don't know what happened to him in his time that he lived in the puppymill, but we know it must have been really bad. Spirit had neurological damage and was not able to lead a happy life in any way. We did all we could to try to find a way for this precious boy to stay with us. I know that Spirit knew I loved him, and I think that gave him at least a bit of comfort.

Our Precious Little Duncan "Hiney"
July 24, 2010 - August 11, 2010 If love could have saved you then you would still be here, my little angel. Duncan's mom and dad were rescued from an animal shelter. A couple weeks later Duncan was born. His mom was in such bad shape and so very thin we did not even know she was pregnant until she gave birth to him. Duncan put up a great fight to survive. We should all be so inspired and determined as this little tiny guy was. Until we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge, you are always in our hearts.
