South Paw Animal Rescue and Sanctuary is a small 501c3 non-profit animal rescue founded in 2007. We are an all volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing puppy mill, abandoned, and unwanted Papillons and Pomeranians. We do not turn other breeds away if we are in a position to help them also. We Need YOUR Help!

Did you know that just last night hundreds of Papillons, Pomeranians, and other toy breed dogs spent the night in the "dog pound"?

All over the country, in large cities and in small towns, our beloved breeds are sitting in a dog pound waiting for someone to come and save them. These perfectly healthy and friendly little dogs are in danger of being euthanized. Not because of illness or bad temperament, but simply because the shelters have too many dogs. Thousands of dogs are sitting in the dog pound right now, dogs of all breeds, ages, sizes.

These little dogs need YOUR help.

Not convinced? See for yourself.

In Hope, An Animal Shelter Story

There are a lot of ways you can help to save these dogs before they are euthanized:

1- Please check your local animal shelter first.

If you are interested in adopting a dog, please check your local animal shelter first. Many animal shelters do not put all of their dogs on their website. We have gone to animals shelters to rescue a dog and found that there were many more there than were listed on their website. So be sure to go to the shelter in person and look.

2- Sign up with us right now to be a local contact in your area.

When a papillon or pomeranian is in need, most of the time we don't know anyone in the area who can help us to get the dog out of the shelter and on a volunteer transport to our rescue. This help is crucial and we need people in ALL parts of the country.

(use the "without registering" option for quick and easy signup)

3- Talk to Your Friends and Family.

If they have a dog they cannot keep or if they find a lost dog, please ask them to contact a rescue to take the dog, rather than bringing the dog to the animal shelter, where it may be euthanized. If they can't find a rescue to take the dog, a local vet may take it, or perhaps a family friend or coworker can hold the dog until a rescue can be found to take it.

4- Be Kind to your Local Animal Shelter.

They have a really hard job. They didn't create the pet overpopulation. Puppymills and commercial breeders created it. Animal Shelters are the ones on the front line of dealing with the problem. Help them out. Donate pet food, blankets, those raised dog beds you see all over. Maybe even bring them some pizzas for the staff while you are at it. Ask them what they need. They will surely have a very long list of things they are in need of.

5- Come back to South Paw Rescue!

Still can't find the dog you want to adopt in your local shelter? We have many dogs waiting for homes, and more waiting to come into our rescue. We'll find the right match for you. We could also use your help! Even if you only have a half an hour a week we can use your help, so please come back!

We rely totally on donations and foster homes to be able to rescue animals in need.

We are in desperate need of both right now.

Donations have really dropped off with the rough economy, and all of our foster homes are currently full. Yet there are hundreds of dogs that need us urgently right now. They are in dog pounds and puppymills all over the country. Some are outside in the freezing cold and snow at this very moment.

Please help us, today, so we can continue to rescue animals so desperately in need of help.

(the rescue pays all veterinary expenses for foster dogs.
You simply provide the food, water, indoor home, and love these dogs so desperately need)
